Fall is in full swing and cravings for spiced cider and flannel have become increasing apparent around our house. Back in my college days, every fall my roommates and I would make spiced cider and rum and bring it to organic chemistry lecture to get us through class. That’s probably the reason that I barely passed that class. Ah those were the days…
Anyways…Selma and I have started the wedding planning process and one of the topics that came up in conversation recently was what our signature cocktails will be. Because it’s a fall wedding and I clearly LOVE bourbon, I came up with a twist on my old fall favorite that I hope you’ll love as well! Let me know what y’all think and maybe you’ll see it again at the wedding!
As a side note, if you know me, then you know I have an undying love for Maker’s Mark. And as a Maker’s Mark Ambassador, it’s my obligation to spread the word about my favorite bourbon any way I can. So though you can make this recipe with any bourbon, I recommend Maker’s Mark because it has a sweeter finish that meddles well with the cider and ginger brew.
Ginger Bourbon Cider Cocktail
- 2 ounces Apple Cider, chilled
- 1 ounce Bourbon (I recommend Makers Mark)
- 2 ounces Ginger Brew, chilled – I recommend the Trader Joe’s variety but anything with a strong ginger taste will do.
- Apple slices for garnish (optional)
Step 1: Combine the cider and bourbon in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake thoroughly.
Step 2: Strain mixture into an ice filled glass and top with the chilled ginger brew. Stir gently.
Step 3: Garnish with an apple slice and serve.
