Random Things We Did This Weekend

posted in: Life Updates | 0

First, I want to apologize for the lack of posts on the blog this past week. Things have been very hectic with planning for the big move and work related stuffs. Plus, we haven’t really had time to make anything new for the blog in awhile. But don’t fret, there are some delicious recipes coming later this week!

Made Lemon Ricotta Pancakes

The title says it all. And to top it all off, Selma made a tart blackberry glaze to go over it all. Be on the lookout this week for the full recipe!

IMG_2397Got a massage!

This was probably the most interesting/entertaining part of the weekend. For V-Day, Selma graciously got me a massage at the fancy Corbu Spa & Salon because I always complain about being sore from cycling and CrossFit. Mind you that this was my first time ever getting a massage so I had no idea what to expect.

I arrived a bit early (45 min) but that didn’t seem to bother the people at the spa. They were more interested in making sure you were relaxed more than anything else. Upon checking in, you are escorted down to the locker rooms where they have you change into a robe and slippers. Afterwards, you wait in the “relaxation room” until it’s time for the massage.

Because they don’t allow phones/cameras outside of the locker room (for good reason I suppose), I was only able to get a few shots inside the locker room. Needless to say this place was super fancy.

All in all, the massage was pretty awesome. I had just finished a hard week at CrossFit and a 60 mile ride that day so needless to say, the massage was much appreciated. If I could afford to go back every month, I totally would. But at ~$120 per massage at full price, this seems like more of a yearly treat than a monthly endeavor.

Had the best burger ever at Yard House!

After the massage, I met up with Selma at Yard House for dinner mainly because we had some gift cards to go through. I typically don’t love writing about food at big restaurant chains but this burger was so phenomenal that I just had to feature it on the blog. I present to you the Pastrami Benedict Burger.

Layers of fried onions, roasted tomatoes, and a sunny side up egg all sandwiched between a hearty potato bun. Oh. My. Gerd. We will definitely have to recreate this on our own soon.

Went to wing night at The Draft

Lastly, for dinner on Sunday night, we headed back to The Draft for some 35 cent wings. Selma and I used to get wings here every Sunday/Monday when we lived right around the corner. But since moving farther away, we haven’t ventured back for their amazing wings and dinner specials. With beer and a few dozen wings, the total came out to ~$20. Awesome. If you’re ever in Allston, be sure to check out The Draft for some amazing food and beer specials!

And with that, Happy Monday and thanks for reading!
