Ah yes…The OG. You are probably asking yourself why on earth we would ever go to Olive Garden when we have the historical North End right here in Boston where you can find authentic Italian cuisine around every corner. Answer: unlimited soup, salad, and bread sticks. Whenever I am in need of some serious carbo-loading, in steps The OG to fill that bread stick shaped hole in my heart and stomach.
After our trip to Concord last weekend, we headed over to The OG because we had a car and we were going to get our moneys worth out of it. It’s super easy to get to the North End via the T but it’s a pain getting out of the city to The OG via public transportation.
Just happy to finally be at The OG. We should have taken a picture together because we all happened to match that evening with our red/white color scheme. It was fate.
To start, we obviously got the soup, salad, and bread sticks. I believe this was their chicken and gnocchi soup.
You can never get enough of their salad.
And of course the coup de grace – unlimited bread sticks. These will eventually be my downfall.
And no, this picture is not a repeat. If you look closely, you will notice that it’s actually a completely different bowl of soup. That’s right, I got seconds.
For the entrees, Selma and I partook in the 2 for $25 dinner special. Basically, you get an appetizer (soup, salad, and bread sticks), an entree each, and a dessert to share. I decided to go with the spaghetti and Italian sausage (pictured below). I was actually quite impressed with this dish. The spaghetti was a perfect al dente and the meat sauce was superb.
Selma got the mushroom ravioli. If you are a shroom lover, you would definitely have enjoyed this dish.
And our friend Squid Mike got the eggplant parm. I think the batter on the eggplant is what makes this dish so unique and delicious.
And finally, for dessert we order the tiramisu. It most definitely was not made in house but we didn’t mind at all.
If you are looking for a romantic first date kind of place, then maybe you should consider the North End. But if you are in the market for a great deal and a serious food coma, then The OG is definitely your place.
And with that, thanks for reading!
