Maker’s Mark Kentucky Derby Celebration

posted in: Travel | 0

In celebration of the Kentucky Derby, Marker’s Mark hosted a party in Boston for those of us who couldn’t make it down to Kentucky on short notice. The event was held at Boston Chops (super fancy venue) and featured complementary apps and discounted drinks. They also encouraged people to dress in Derby attire and had prizes for the best dressed guy and gal, hence why everyone looks so fancy.

To start, the apps were pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I’m not sure what these little guys were but they included some kind of jam and ham. I probably had 10 of these.

Pimento cheese finger sandwiches? Who knows. It was food.

For drinks, we both ordered their classic Mint Julep. It was actually our first time trying a mint julep but Selma and I were definitely fans. Selma loves anything with mint so she was certainly content.

The best part was that we only had to get one drink because they kept coming around with these little shots which we kept refilling our drinks with.

Apparently, even Jamie Foxx likes the Derby so you should too.

Finally, after a couple hours of snacking and drinking, the race was off. Our pick was for the underdog Commanding Curve (33-1 odds). How could you not love that name.

And after an exciting two minutes filled with cheering and screaming, the race was over. Surprisingly, our horse came in second. We should have actually placed our bets. Next time Commanding Curve…

And here is a picture of a few readers and friends who I’ve inspired to join the Ambassador program. It’s a real thing I promise.

All in all, this was the perfect way to celebrate the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports. If you have not signed up for the Maker’s Mark Ambassador Program by now, shame on you. You are missing out on awesome gifts and free events such as this one. But it’s never too late!

And with that, thanks for reading!
