Flour Bakery + Cafe is a very dangerous place for your bank account. I used to eat here at least 3 times a week but it was well worth the financial strain. They have several locations across town spanning from the South End to Cambridge. They have so many delicious options it’s difficult not to lose control and buy one of everything in sight. Walking through the doors here is like you died and went to pastry heaven.
My go-to sandwich is the Roast Beef with horseradish mayo, crispy onions, and tomato on their homemade white bread. Oh. My. Gerd. It’s so simple yet so delicious. The horseradish mayo and the crispy onions accentuate the roast beef to a whole new level that I didn’t even know existed.
This little wonder is the roasted lamb with tomato chutney and goat cheese. If you love goat cheese, then this is the sandwich for you.
Every now and then I’ll try their Stuffed Bread special of the day. It changes daily so you never know what you’re going to get! This here is the Chiken Parm stuffed bread. It’s basically a fancy calzone stuffed with unspeakable wonders.
Finally, the pastries. Now their motto is “make life sweeter…eat dessert first” so it would have made sense to write about these first. However, I had to keep you interested somehow until this point so you would read the entire post.
When you come to Flour Bakery, you can’t not leave without getting any desserts. It’s a sin. Pictured below is their Berry Bread Pudding. It’s one of many variety’s of bread pudding that they offer. Their bread pudding is much denser than you would expect but it’s packed with flavor and just the right amount of sweetness.
And last but not least (as well as my personal favorite), their famous sticky buns with dark sticky caramel and toasted pecans. How anyone can say no to these buns is beyond me. These go perfectly with an after lunch iced coffee and no forms of physical activity whatsoever.
If you love baked goods and deliciousness, look no further. Yes, if you ate here every day you would go poor. But you would certainly be happy and poor.
And with that, thanks for reading!
