Maker’s Mark Ambassador Review

This post has been a long time coming. I’ve been so busy writing other reviews that I completely forgot about this one until now. So without further ado, I present to you an in-depth view of the Maker’s Mark Ambassador program.

The Ambassador program in a nutshell is a promotional program run by Maker’s Mark that invites people to become advocates for their brand. In return, you get invitations to special VIP events in your area, your name on an actual barrel of whisky, the chance to purchase a bottle when it’s ready (in ~7 years), free gifts during the holidays, and many more extras!

It all started with a simple letter. I imagine this moment being comparable to when Harry received his acceptance letter to Hogwarts.

Inside was a letter from Rob Samuels welcoming me to join the ranks of the finest men and women in the world – The Maker’s Mark Ambassadors.

Next was my Manifesto that included a hand full of documents pertaining to the history of Marker’s Mark and the purpose of the Ambassador program.

It was your standard top secret stuff.

However, that was just the beginning….

A few weeks later, I received an email inviting me to Meet the Maker, Bill Samuels Jr. himself, at a local bar in Boston! They send out invites every now and then for free events all over Boston hosted by Maker’s Mark. It’s just one of the many perks of the job I suppose.

After a few months, I finally received my letter containing my barrel certificate. My name, along with several other fellow ambassadors, was engraved onto a name plate and placed on an actual barrel of whisky. It is currently sitting in their warehouse aging to perfection.

Here is a picture of the certificate.

And this is a picture of the name plate on the barrel with my name engraved on it! I can even go visit my barrel at the warehouses in Kentucky.

The letter also contained some official business cards for you to pass out to all of your prospective clients.

The best part is that they also have a mobile app that allows you to track the status of your barrel. Obviously, my barrel has a ways to go but I’m sure it will be worth the wait!

And they also give you certain discounts on Maker’s Mark glassware and bar sets!!

Finally, the part that I was most looking forward to….

A few weeks before Christmas, I received this little package in the mail. I had heard that they send out gifts every year around Christmas time to thank their ambassadors so I was eager to find out what this years gift would be. Others in the past have received golf balls sets, mini sweaters, and even a wax sealing kit!

This was the inside of the letter. It was a santa hat for my Maker’s Mark Bottle!!!

It was prefect for my signed bottle.

I also ordered the sweater from last years gift off eBay. It was only $9 and I had to have it. Useless? Absolutely. Awesome? Obviously. Sorry I’m not sorry.

Overall, for being entirely free, this program is by far the best marketing strategy I’ve seen from any company. The amount of time and personalization they invest into every Ambassador is enough to make anyone a diehard fan of their product. I will forever and always exclusively drink Maker’s Mark.
